We have just finished an re-design for our clients at 202 Jewellery, being in a fashion led business they have defiantly got their finger on the pulse of current style and design trends and decided to utilise their two websites to accommodate the ever growing numbers of ipad and touch screen tablet surfers. Making one website into a ipad / touch screen friendly one and the other for all us poor digital dinosaurs still on the pc.
They took advantage of the re-build to develop their style further with a more image based page design which will be updated regularly to stay in line with the very latest designs from the jewellery suppliers so their customers can stay totally up to date with the latest jewellery available.
On the ipad / touch screen friendly site each page now has an on-click dropdown menu instead of the rollover dropdown it had previously, it already was built on the 960 grid so that remained unchanged, but the pages, many of which that had embedded flash videos now has links to their own YouTube channel which it streams the videos from. This was a more simple way around the problem of no flash showing in the ipad, we experimented at length with the alternative formats and embedded in html5 video players, which worked but so slowly it was decided that this was the way to go, it also has the added advantage of publicising their business to the YouTube viewer, have a look at the new site and see what you think.
